Varicose veins are a painless and unsightly condition that affects many people. While there are a variety of treatments available, it is important to understand the most effective treatments and how they can help you manage your symptoms. With the help of Dr. Eugene Tanquilut Tinley Park, you can get treatments and procedures that can improve the health of your veins, reduce any discomfort you may be experiencing, and help to restore the appearance of your legs.

Causes and symptoms of varicose veins

Varicose veins are characterized by enlarged, twisted, and bulging veins that can be seen on the skin’s surface. The causes of varicose veins are not fully understood. Varicose veins can be a natural consequence of aging, but they are more likely to develop during pregnancy when the blood flow increases.

Certain conditions and activities can also contribute to the development of varicose veins, such as sitting or standing for long periods, being overweight or obese, having an active job that requires prolonged standing or sitting, and certain medical conditions like venous insufficiency. Genetics may also play a role in developing varicose veins as well.

Some of the most common symptoms associated with this condition include swelling in the legs, aching or burning sensation in the legs, and visible blue or purple lines on the skin. Understanding what causes varicose veins and recognizing their symptoms can help individuals take steps to prevent them from occurring or worsening.

    Treatment options for varicose veins

Varicose veins are a common medical condition that can cause pain and discomfort. Treatment options for varicose veins vary depending on the severity of the condition and can include the following:

    Sclerotherapy

It is a procedure carried out in a hospital to treat varicose veins. The affected veins are injected with a chemical solution, which causes them to collapse and eventually disappear. This minimally invasive procedure can be performed in a clinic or doctor’s office. Varicose veins can be effectively treated with sclerotherapy, which can minimize their size and alleviate associated symptoms like pain, itching, burning, and swelling. It stops the development of new varicose veins and also aids in preventing future vein issues.

    Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT)

Varicose veins can be treated with minimally invasive endovenous laser therapy (EVLT). Blood can flow through healthy veins because the damaged vein is heated and sealed using laser energy. Local anesthesia is used during the procedure, usually lasting less than an hour. The symptoms of varicose veins, such as pain, swelling, heaviness, itching, and fatigue, can be lessened safely and effectively with EVLT. Additionally, it can make your legs look better by hiding unsightly varicose veins.

    Surgery

Surgery is one of the treatments available for varicose veins. It involves the removal of damaged veins and the rerouting of healthy blood flow to other parts of the body. Surgery can be done in different ways depending on the severity and location of the varicose veins. The type of surgery used will depend on factors such as age, medical history, and overall health. With proper care, surgery can help to improve circulation and reduce symptoms associated with varicose veins.
