Flat feet have fallen arches that press flat on the ground and are common as most people are naturally born with them. Although flat feet The Woodlands is common and natural, they may cause pain and instability. You can check the inner circle of the feet when standing to determine if you have flat feet, as flat feet fall to the ground when standing. Fortunately, you may not need to treat flat feet if it does not cause any problems, but you should address the chronic pain associated with flat feet. These are tips to deal with flat feet to improve stability and alleviate chronic pain.

Limit exercises and Massage the feet

You should limit movement when pain strikes. You may experience pain in the flat feet if you walk for an extended time since movement exerts pressure on the flat feet. You can avoid standing for an extended duration when in pain as it exerts pressure on the fallen arches. You may put on ice or massage the legs to relieve the pain. You can incorporate essential oils into the care routine as they reduce chronic pain in the feet.

    Wear orthotics

Sometimes dealing with the pain on the fallen arches might be challenging as walking still increases the pain intensity. Therefore choose supportive orthotics which promote the arches on the feet. The orthotics will absorb the shock from the ground distributing the shock waves throughout the feet. Moreover, they promote better balance and prevent soreness on the feet. The orthotics will promote better ankle and knee joint health and increase the range of motion leading to better leg stability.

    Watch Your Weight

Sometimes you would feel pain on the fall arches due to excess weight as the feet carry the pressure from the body weight. Therefore you can manage your weight with dieting and exercises, which promote the ideal body BMI. The exercises increase the range of motion in the joints and improve foot health.

    Take Medications

You can take pain medications if the pain in the arches is intense, as it makes it possible to go on with everyday activities. However, you should not rely on medications to deal with the fallen arch pain as it leads to addiction. The medication might temporarily approach the pain before going for surgery.

    Opt For Surgery

Although the fallen arches are natural, you may opt for surgery that uplifts the arches reducing chronic pain. The surgery lifts the fallen feet by adjusting the muscles and ligaments in the feet. The surgeon may fuse the bones in the feet to create the arch and lift the arches on the floor. You may ask your podiatrist if the surgery is ideal for lifting fallen feet.

Fallen arches touch the floor and do not leave space between the feet and the floor, thus making it possible to feel the shock from the ground when walking. The exposure of the feet to the floor leads to chronic pain and a lack of balance. Thus, you should talk with your podiatrist to learn better ways to deal with fallen feet. You may start by avoiding too much physical activity, massaging, and using ice to numb the pain. Then, use medications and opt for surgery to deal with the pain.
